I had never even heard of a calf rearer when I took on the role back in July. Diving into the unknown I’ve grown to love my job and my calves who provide as much amusement as they do frustration. I’ve now reared over 1000 calves and continue to look after a couple of hundred as they grow into fine beef and dairy cattle.

I picked a perfect sunny Spring day to explore the rural town of Glenorchy. The Great Glenorchy Getaway held at Mrs Wooly’s General Store showcased some fabulous Otago food and wine. Influential locals gave talks on local pastimes like fishing and an interesting film about the Chatham Islands ended what was a very enjoyable day.
