My mum flew in from the UK to join me on a one month cycle tour of the South Island. The first five days from Lumsden to Arrowtown encountered many highs and lows. We wild camped beneath the stars, got eaten alive by sandflies and ended up having to cycle 50km back in the direction we had just come. Never a dull day when cycling New Zealand!

My job as a calf rearer: Castle Rock, Southland
I had never even heard of a calf rearer when I took on the role back in July. Diving into the unknown I’ve grown to love my job and my calves who provide as much amusement as they do frustration. I’ve now reared over 1000 calves and continue to look after a couple of hundred as they grow into fine beef and dairy cattle.
